Runny Runny is a keyboard-based program launcher that makes working with Windows much quicker and easier than with the mouse. Runny's strengths are: It's FAST It's TINY It's SIMPLE It works!  The program itself is only 60k and doesn't require any further libraries or frameworks to be installed. When running, it usually reserves between 2 and 4mb of memory.  Install it, run it. Press ALT SPACEBAR to activate it, type something in and hit return. You can type: - a program or document name - autocomplete will help. Just hit return when you've typed enough to identify the program or document you need. - a web address, just www.somewebaddress.com will do. - a path name - hit tab or \ to autocomplete each folder. / for help Runny should run on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 and is provided free of charge. If you find Runny useful, please consider donating by clicking on the button below. Half of the profits we receive from Runny will go to Malaria No More  to help eradicate this terrible disease. You will also be put on the list to be notified of Runny updates. Download Current version: v1.0r3 (67k).  Just download the installer and run it.  This installs just two files, the Runny program itself and an uninstaller.  Runny is also added to your Start menu. Development Runny was developed for our own use and has been hammered, tweaked, tested, rewritten, optimised and finally thrown away and written again until we were totally happy with it. We wanted a keyboard driven application that would allow us to do everything we needed to in Windows without resorting to the mouse. Furthermore, it would have minimal or no impact on the performance of the PC and not be either a big memory hog or a Windows-Startup-Disk-Thrasher. It takes long enough for a PC to start up nowadays. As the application is only visible for a few seconds here and there, look and feel takes a backseat to efficiency and reliability. Days of soul searching were involved in the decision to include the scroll- on/scroll-off effect but it was eventually decided that this increases the usability of the product without adding complexity or resource overhead. How did we get it so small and quick? We used Microsoft Visual C++ v6.0 which we've been happily using since it was released. We avoid extra libraries like MFC, ATL or .NET. The code is organised using simple C++ classes (if we used straight C, of course, it would be even smaller...but less manageable and reliable). Settings are stored in a simple ini file and we avoid using the registry. Features Simple and efficient. Tiny file size. Very low resource usage. Fast startup - doesn’t add more time onto system boot up. Autocomplete using tab or ‘\’. F.A.Q It doesn't find my program xxxx Have you spelled it correctly? Some programs are not called what you might think. E.g.Word is actually called winword.exe.   Is it in the search path? Runny's default search path is: - Anything on the startmenu (both common and system) - My documents - The windows system32 folder If you wish to add another folder to the search path, just type the path of the folder into the runny window followed by a space and /s, e.g. "c:\program files\notepad++ /s" This path will be added to the ini file and to the search  path permanently. (If you need to remove it, just edit the ini file in notepad.) info@abbeytek.com
